Sharptown Maryland lies on the southern bank of the Nanticoke River in northwest Wicomico County, about 12 miles from Salisbury Maryland. It was settled as a shipbuilding town around 1769, most notably by the Marine family. A century later, Sharptown was in its prime with numerous businesses springing up.
Today, many of Sharptown Maryland’s 700 residents enjoy Cherry Beach, located near the bridge that leads across the Nanticoke River into Dorchester County. The Sharptown Fireman’s Carnival each August is another popular stop for residents and visitors alike.
